Time After Time After...Time?

Time After Time After Time

Time is such a weird concept to me. You can sense it flying by really fast or you can feel it slowly ticking away the seconds, minutes, hours, days. You can have all the time in the world, or you can run out of it. Time, why do you have to be so bipolar??

In truth, we actually have more time than we think we have. I understand that from a college student’s perspective, however, it’s tough to get into that mentality. In the beginning of our freshman year in college, most of us have this perception of a time bomb ticking away until graduation, and we need to cram it with clubs, internships, jobs, and academic achievements to really utilize our time and help us gain that extra step up before heading off to the real world.

But isn’t the real world mostly just a huge blank space of time? As college students, we're so scared of missing out on opportunities to grow and help us succeed in the short span of four years that we sometimes forget about the other opportunities we can still take advantage of after graduation. And sure, using our time now will definitely help us out in the future. Putting time to study, socialize, and work is so important. But we also need to put in time to take care of our well-being in the present-time. We need to put in the time for ourselves NOW before we put in time for things in the future that aren’t even definite.

This past weekend, I guess you could say I kind of dropped some of my responsibilities and went on a mini-hike/run with my best friend. When we reached the top and saw the sunset, I immediately thought that I needed to take this picture of the sunset or else miss out on this perfect opportunity. I mean, I skipped doing my homework to go on this run, I might as well have that perfect picture of the sunset to make it all worthwhile, right? But I realized after taking the picture that part of the sunset’s perfection is not only just the colors, or how it just seems to make everything touching the horizon appear even more gorgeous than ever.

I think the beauty of the sunset lies in the fact that there will always be another tomorrow, another opportunity, another time for it to appear again.

I also know what you're thinking...WHERE HAVE I BEEN ALL THIS TIME? I've done a lot of thinking this past month and I'm refocusing my goals so that I can be more active on this blog. And even if I slip out a couple times, there's still another time to come back again. :)
